Trash Talk put out one of my favorite records of 2011, the pummeling not quite 15 minutes long Awake EP. With the turning of the year comes a video from that release for the typically pummeling and awesome “Slander.” As with all the tracks on the Awake EP Trash Talk make every second count here.
The guttural vocals sound almost as cathartic to hear as they would seem to be to bellow. The precision of the band is undeniable, they are one of the best acts working in not only hardcore but any form of rock and in particular all forms of heavy rock. If you have an open minded metal friend you may want to run this by them.
The video is a funny animated clip in which someone takes some particularly adventurous looking mushrooms and proceeds to freak out at the animated Trash Talk show. It is the sort of plan that seems like a great bad idea and the video goes a long way at undercutting the self seriousness that can often bog down even the best hardcore acts.
